A trip to Farrow an Ball

We had a chance to travel to Dorset England to see how Farrow and Ball  paint and papers are made. I was blown away how much detail goes into making sure their paints and wallpaper are a step above. The papers are made in the old traditional blocking method using Farrow and Ball paint . Every order of wallpaper starts when you order it , custom made to your job! No rolls of inventory here.

Strong silent type

We loved this handsome cocktail table not only for its  simplicity but for the use of two spectacular spieces of wood. This pieces will prove to be a "wow" piece for many of our clients homes.

Bringing the indoors- Out!

With the movement of outdoor living places, we found  this outdoor furniture that looks and feels like you would put it in a family room. Some of us can remember the decorating style of the 80s where the sofa, love seat and chairs matched as well as all the occasional tables. Give the outdoor the same respect and attention as your indoor. No matchy matchy. A sleek wicker sofa with 2 slipcovered lounge chairs, unique side tables, and some outdoor lamps to complete thge look. Awesome !!

My 3 daughters Grace, Emma and Bree.  The board of directors for Andersons.  Unfortunatly our board meetings have too many cookie and juice breaks in my opinion.

A chance to wear white again !

Farrow and Ball has some of the best shades of white, One of  our favorites is #4 old white. A great back drop to  showcase brighter whites like #2005 all white or #2003 pointing. Layering different shades of white gives a room great dimension. Finally a chance to wear white again. Drop in for a  sample pot.

France farm house

We stumbled on this showroom by accident when we were on our buying trip and I had to pull Margaurite out kicking and screaming. Awesome pieces. Weathered screens , lamps , finials, and cabnets, the list goes on. A great one of a kind piece to add to a room. You could even make up an awesome story of you were travelling the world and  found this  in a farm house that you were staying at  in France. I call this artistic license. Drop in and see some of these great finds.

Go Clubbing

We love this chair! Its a small chair that sits big.  So many of the modern chairs look great but dont sit well. Being 6' (actually 5'11" but 6' sound more impressive) I find it supports me well. I always like a piece that is ready to be in a photo shoot as well as ready for the football game.

They're Bringing Pretty Back

I  breath a sigh of relief that my designer Margaurite is by my side when buying for the new season. From a guy that would buy anything if it came in black or brown leather from sofas to mirrors, I have found myself in unchartered waters. Soft pastels on one side, bold citrus colours on the other. With Margaurite leading the way, we have transformed our showroom to showcase some of the hottest new colours. I will never give up my leather, so you will see that even though its now in bright yellow.

Set Sail

This carpet  shows well in navy and white. With the re-introduction of everything nautical , this broadloom looks great made into an area rug or a stair runner.

Best Supporting Role goes to...

This is one of  our favorite carpets to be used wall to wall or in an area rug. It  wont steal the show but brings great texture to a room in a  supporting role to  a soft neutral grey , taupe and cream pallet in furniture. A black leather border adds a great finish to the rug.

The General Store Counter

When I was a kid I would head down to a general store in Waterdown called Huxleys. I would take my allowance and blow it on penny candy in a little brown bag. I was the king of the world. When I saw this  antique reproduction of a General store counter it took me back. I had to bring it into the store. A great piece in a kitchen as an island or loaded up with candy in the middle of your bedroom.!!!! Drop in and view this great piece.

Family Dinners

We wanted to find a trestle table that gave us a great weathered look but not date itself to 2011. The weathered look is in but remember its the pickled wood of the 80s. This table gave us a great look that will be  classic  for years to come. It comes with 2 leaves that puts the size of the table at 124'' .

Modern & Classic Collide

We are very excited about this new etegere we have on our floor. A great new design that brings the traditional and modern together. Walnut shelves sits on a modern brass frame that gives the illussion that the shelves are floating. A great piece flanking a fireplace  or as a room devider. Email me at janderson@skylinc.net for more information or drop in.
